Tripura is strengthening its focus on early childhood education as the state government expands pre primary learning initiatives across government schools. Education officials have described foundational learning as one of the most important pillars for long term national development. During a recent teacher training programme organised by the Directorate of Elementary Education in West Tripura, Education Secretary Milind Dharmarao Ramteke emphasized the importance of education during the early years of a child’s development. He noted that strong foundational learning helps shape confidence, communication skills, and future academic growth.
The workshop included around 100 teachers from 94 newly established government pre primary schools introduced for the 2026 to 27 academic session. Training sessions focused on play based learning, activity driven teaching methods, and classroom engagement techniques designed for young learners. Officials stated that nearly 450 government schools across Tripura now have pre primary sections, expanding access to structured early education for children in both urban and rural areas. Teachers were also provided with learning materials, classroom guides, and activity books to support daily instruction.
The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, which places strong emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy. According to officials, enrolment in government pre primary schools has also increased this year, reflecting growing public interest in early education programs. The programme further showcased creative teaching aids and low cost learning materials prepared by teachers themselves, highlighting efforts to make classrooms more interactive and student friendly.
Tripura’s growing investment in pre primary education reflects a broader shift toward strengthening learning at the earliest stage, with the aim of building stronger academic foundations for future generations.
