Bengaluru: The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research International Center for Theoretical Sciences (TIFR ICTS) has announced 12th April as the last day for receipt of applications to its Gravitational Wave Open Data Workshop. The workshop is organised in connection with the GWODW 2026 by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) Collaboration, and will be held from 20th April to 22nd April, 2026, on the ICTS campus.
The workshop is designed primarily for postgraduate and graduate students interested in Gravitational Wave (GW) astronomy, though a small number of undergraduate students may still be considered. They will also be required to have a basic understanding of Python programming.
Participants are recommended to peruse “Gravitational-Wave Physics and Astronomy: An Introduction to Theory, Experiment and Data Analysis” by Jolien D. E. Creighton and Warren G. Anderson before signing up for the workshop. They are to also prepare a brief review of the concepts of Frequentism and Bayesianism.
The workshop will include a series of lectures delivered by ICTS researchers covering the basics of GW Data Analysis. Facilitated by the tools provided by the LVK Collaboration, these lectures will be followed by hands-on tutorials based on the GWODW 2026.
Travel expenses and accommodation are to be settled by the participants themselves.
