New Delhi: The National Institute of Education Planning and Administration (NIEPA) will organise a five-day regional workshop on “Research Methodology: Analytical Methods of Large-Scale Survey Data” from September 7 to 11, 2026, in Bhubanseshwar, Odisha. This workshop aims towards strengthening the research and analytical skills of young scholars in the fields of education and social sciences.
Focus on Data-Driven Research
In this workshop, the participants will be provided with hands-on training in analysing nationally representative datasets such as the National Sample Survey (NSS), National Family Health Survey (NFHS), and India Human Development Survey (IHDS). This study will focus on analysing educational disparity, inequality, and socio-economic factors using quantitative research methods.
How will the Workshop Progress?
The programme will be a blend of lecture discussions, panel discussions and practical exercises. These lectures will then be followed by hands-on training experiences which will help the participants to get a hold over some of the widely used softwares like SPSS and STATA.
Training in Statical and Econometric Tools
Through the workshop, the participants will be able to learn key analytical techniques, which include descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), multiple linear regression and limited dependent variable models such Probit and Logit, etc
Eligibility and Application Process
This workshop is primarily for young scholars and researchers working on education and related issues from colleges and universities from the eastern region of India. Each participant is expected to bring their individual laptops and are expected to have knowledge on basic statistics, mathematics, econometrics and statistical softwares such as SPSS, STATA, etc . A maximum of 45 candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic profile and application material.
NIEPA will provide boarding and lodging facilities on a twin sharing basis and will reimburse the travel expenses of the selected participants. Applicants are required to submit their brief CV, a covering letter, a brief research proposal and a 300-word statement of purpose (why they would like to attend the workshop) by 15 August, 2026 and the shortlisted candidates will be informed by 20 August, 2026
