New Delhi: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has partnered with Cultus Education and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a nationwide initiative aimed at expanding access to cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) skills across India.
The programme is designed to provide foundational cloud and AI training to 150,000 learners, while offering intensive, employment-focused training to 10,000 participants through the AWS re/Start programme.
The initiative will be delivered completely online by Cultus Education and will reach learners across all States and Union Territories. A key focus will be on young people from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and underserved communities, enabling them to access industry-relevant technology education without having to move to major metropolitan cities.
From Digital Learning to Cloud Careers
The programme will create a structured pathway for learners to progress from foundational digital learning to career-oriented cloud training.
Participants will initially have access to AWS digital learning resources covering the basics of cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Learners who demonstrate the required readiness will have the opportunity to advance to AWS re/Start, a free, cohort-based workforce development programme focused on preparing participants for entry-level careers in cloud computing.
The instructor-led AWS re/Start training will cover key areas including cloud infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, programming, relational databases and AI fundamentals.
Through practical labs, real-world scenarios, coursework and mentorship from experienced instructors, participants will gain hands-on exposure to technologies and skills aligned with current industry requirements.
Certification and Employment Opportunities
A major component of the initiative will be its focus on connecting skilling with employment.
Participants who successfully complete the programme will have the opportunity to pursue an AWS Certification, providing an industry-recognised credential that demonstrates their cloud computing capabilities.
Graduates will also receive access to qualified interview opportunities through connections with local employers, helping create a pathway from training and certification to employment.
Expanding Technology Opportunities Beyond Major Cities
The initiative places particular emphasis on inclusive access to emerging technology skills. By delivering training online across the country, the partners aim to reduce geographical barriers that often prevent young people in smaller cities and underserved communities from accessing high-quality technology education.
Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, said the initiative reflects the vision of Viksit Bharat by ensuring that access to opportunities is not determined by geography or background.
Rani Burchmore, APJC Lead, AWS Skilling & Social Impact, said AWS re/Start is aimed at bringing new talent into the technology workforce, helping organisations meet demand for skilled professionals and supporting communities in building sustainable career opportunities.
Nalin Singh, Group Managing Director, Cultus Education, said the programme is intended to ensure that skilling leads to greater confidence, recognised credentials and meaningful career opportunities for learners beyond India's major metropolitan centres.
With its combination of foundational digital learning, intensive cloud training, certification and employment pathways, the initiative seeks to strengthen India's technology talent pipeline while making emerging technology careers more accessible to young people across the country.
