New Delhi: The Economic Times felicitated JNU as one of the Best Education Brands 2022. Receiving the award, Vice Chancellor Professor Santishree D. Pandit extended heartfelt gratitude to students, faculty and staff for their sincere efforts to help achieve this. 

SCDR/JNU received the WCDM-DRR Award 2022 award for its outstanding contributions in the field of DM/DRR through research and academic excellence towards strengthening capacities of various stakeholders and innovative practices. 

Professor Saumitra Mukherjee, former Dean of School of Environmental Sciences, JNU received the prestigious award "New Code of Education" 2022 among listed Higher Education Institutions/Public Universities in India. The award is based on his innovative teaching and research in Geology, Remote sensing and Space Sciences which has strengthened the New Education Policy of Government. 

Following internal deliberations, the winners are chosen by external jury members, Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Government of India, Dr. (Mrs.) Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, Ex. Addn. Secretary, University Grants Commission and Dr. Prem Singh, Adviser, NITI Aayog. 

The event was graced by Chief Guest, Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the Guest of Honor, Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE.

A. P. Dimri, Professor SES, is awarded with '2022 Grove Karl Gilbert Award for Excellence in Geomorphological Research' of the Geomorphology Specialty Group (GSG) of the American Association of Geographers for his publication “A massive rock and ice avalanche caused the 2021 disaster at Chamoli, Indian Himalaya" in journal Science. 

Prof. Mukesh Jain, SC and IS has been conferred with the Haryana Vigyan Ratna Award 2019 by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Haryana on the occasion of Science Day (February 28, 2022)
