Telangana Poised to Emerge as Global Content Hub with Govt. Support and NCoE: IACG Founder

Rama Krishna Polina highlights growth prospects as India’s media & entertainment sector set to touch ₹3.08 trillion by 2026

Hyderabad, :  With Government Incentives and National Centre of Excellence (NCoE)--Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) for Animation & VFX, Telangana can become the Global Content Powerhouse, said Rama Krishna Polina.  IICT is the upcoming NCoE for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics & Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) in Mumbai. It’s being positioned as India’s premier institute for animation and immersive technologies, with advanced infrastructure, global collaborations, and industry-aligned training, Ramakrishna, , Founder & Managing Director, IACG Multimedia College, stated in a press note issued in the city to announce their partnership with Kyoto Seika University, Japan. 

 IACG (International Academy of Computer Graphics), India’s first college to offer full-time Graduation & PG in Multimedia Courses, and Kyoto Seika University, Japan—the world’s first university to offer Manga & Anime—have signed and exchanged an MoU at T-Hub in Hyderabad recently, he stated. 

The MoU was exchanged between Mr. Rama Krishna Polina, Founder & Managing Director, IACG Multimedia College, and Mr. Shin Matsumura, Director, Centre for Research on Contemporary African and Asian Cultures, Kyoto Seika University in the presence of Mr. VLVSS Subba Rao, Vice Chancellor, The Young India Skill University; Mr. Takashi Suzuki, Chief Director General, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a Japanese government-related organization that promotes mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world; and Mr. Rajiv Chilaka, Founder & CEO, Green Gold Animation (creator of Chhota Bheem), added Dr. Suresh Madiraju, Principal of IACG, said Hyderabad.

Mr. Rama Krishna Polina highlighted India’s immense potential, saying: “We are in the age of AI generative tools, VR, AR, and automation. India’s cultural heritage—our 3 crore gods—offers limitless storytelling opportunities. Our rich history and vast cultural diversity provide the foundation for creating world-class content.”

He further noted that the Government of India has recently announced a 30% incentive on Animation and VFX services and co-productions, along with 100% FDI in the sector, giving a major boost to global collaboration. “With Indians spending nearly 78% of their time on mobile apps for media and entertainment, the industry is poised for unprecedented growth. The Indian media and entertainment sector, valued at ₹2.3 trillion in 2023, is projected to grow at a CAGR of 10% to reach ₹3.08 trillion by 2026,” he added.

Speaking about the MoU, they entered, he said the key outcomes of the MoU are: the student & faculty exchange programs between India and Japan, Industry-Academia Linkages to bring global best practices into Telangana. Also, Outsourcing & Talent Opportunities facilitated by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation) and Global Placements for Telangana-trained talent in the Manga & Anime sector

  Japan leads the world in animation, accounting for 60% of global animation consumption. The Anime industry is valued at USD 25+ billion, producing 1,000 new Manga titles and 300+ Anime seasons every year. Production budgets are 10 times higher than those of U.S. animation projects, offering enormous outsourcing potential.

“JETRO will actively facilitate partnerships, placements, and outsourcing linkages with Japanese studios. This MoU positions Telangana as a global creative talent export hub,” added Takashi Suzuki
