Telangana Plans AI Learning in Schools, Revives Breakfast Programme for Students

The State government outlines education reforms covering artificial intelligence exposure, nutrition support and new public schools.

Telangana, India: The government has announced a set of education-linked measures aimed at improving learning outcomes and student welfare in government schools. The initiatives include the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts in school curriculum, the reintroduction of a breakfast scheme and the establishment of new public schools across the state.

According to officials, AI-related learning will be gradually integrated into classrooms to familiarise students with emerging technologies at an early stage. The focus will be on foundational understanding rather than advanced technical training with an aim of building digital awareness and problem solving skills among school-going children. The state has also indicated plans to strengthen infrastructure and teacher capacity alongside curriculum changes.

In parallel, the government is set to revive the breakfast programme for students, under which children will receive nutritious meals, including milk before classes begin. The scheme is expected to cover students up to Class 12 in all government schools and is intended to address issues like classroom hunger and lack of attendance. Officials have stated that the initiative will be implemented in phases and monitored at school level.

The state has also proposed setting up around 100 new public schools as part of broader education reforms. These schools are expected to follow updated academic and administrative models, combining curriculum modernisation with student welfare measures. The announcements come as part of Telangana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public education and reduce learning gaps among students.
