Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2
The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) in Tamil Nadu has initiated the second round of the Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. Candidates have the opportunity to register and pay the required application fee for the second round, starting on 7th September 2026, at 10:00 AM. The last date of registration and fee payment is 8th September 2026, till 5:00 PM, and the choice-filling process will be available from 9th to 13th September 2026.
Candidates should note that the registration process for the next round is only for a few hours. Eligible medical and dental aspirants who wish to secure a seat through the second round should register themselves during the stipulated time. Candidates within these ranks should note that rank alone does not ensure a seat. Seat allocation depends upon merit, category, eligibility, choices, seat availability and the rules of the applicable reservation.

Who Can Apply?
Candidates who fall within the specified rank should note the following:
- For Government Quota (GQ), rank range is 1 to 35, 926 with NEET UG scores in the range of 705 to 177
- For Management Quota (MQ), rank range is 1 to 26,956 with NEET UG scores in the range of 693 to 177.
Who Can/should Participate?
- Candidates who fall in the above mentioned rank range should note the following:
- Did not get a seat in Round 1
- Joined a Round 1 seat but did not report for admission
- Joined a Round 1 seat and are seeking an upward migration
- Did NOT participate in Round 1 but are eligible for fresh registration
- Are eligible for the notified Government or Management quota seats.
Candidates who registered in Round 1 and did not complete the process should note that due to the Counselling rules in Tamil Nadu, they will not be allowed to register again for Round 2.
Which Seats Are Covered?
Government medical and dental college seats and eligible private medical college seats covered by the notified Tamil Nadu admission framework will be included in the state counselling process for both MBBS and BDS seats.
The state counselling process will also cover government and management quota seats along with the NRI and minority categories in self-financing institutions and specified institutions and categories including ESIC Medical College, K.K. Nagar, Chennai and Christian Medical College, Vellore, during Round 2.
15% All India Quota seats are not covered by the state counselling process of Tamil Nadu; rather, they are handled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
TN NEET Counselling Registration Fee
Applicants must pay the counselling fee to complete their Round 2 registration. The reported fee for the registration process is Rs. 500, and the actual fee would depend on the quota and category the applicant chooses on the website.
Aspirants must ensure that they pay the correct fee and not rely on third-party counselling guides, as there could be variations in government and management quota processes.
How to Register for Tamil Nadu NEET Round 2
Applicants can register for Round 2 of Tamil Nadu NEET online at the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee website:

- Visit tnmedicalselection.net
- Click on the MBBS/BDS counselling section of the website
- Click on the applicable Government or Management Quota link
- Complete the registration or login with your previously created login credentials
- Fill in the required information
- Upload the documents wherever required
- Pay the counselling fee
- Submit the application and save the confirmation details
Choice Filling Is the Next Big Step
Registration is not a direct entry into the seat-allotment phase. Candidates must participate in choice filling and locking, which will be done from 9th September to 13th September 2022, 2 PM. Candidates are advised to choose only those preferences which they actually have, and the rank and position of the vacancies available.
The authority will carry out the process of virtual vacancies on 9th September, and the seat allotment will be done on 14th September 2026. The result for Round 2 seat allotment will be published on 15th September 2026
What happens after Allotment?
Candidates who have been allotted a seat under Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 can download their provisional allotment order from 15th September to 18th September 2026. The last date to join the allotted college is also 18th September 2026.
If a candidate is allotted a new seat, it is considered an upgrade, but one should know the implications of accepting the allotted seat. As per the counselling rules of Tamil Nadu, there will be a re-allotment for Round 2 based on their rank and the applicable reservation norms.
Final Thoughts
As per the notification published, Round 2 of NEET UG Tamil Nadu Counselling is now open for the candidates who have not secured a seat in the first round up to Rank 35,926 in the Government Quota.
The last date for registration and payment is 8th September at 5 PM. The choice filling and locking process for Round 2 need to be completed by 13th September 2022 at 2 PM. The Round 2 seat allotment results will be available on 15th September
