Brazil Opens Applications for PEC-PG 2026 Scholarships for International Postgraduate Students — Apply by December 30

New Delhi. ;The Government of Brazil has officially opened applications for the PEC-PG (Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Pós-Graduação) 2026 — a prestigious scholarship programme for international postgraduate and doctoral students. Interested candidates can apply online through the CAPES portal by December 30, 2025.

About the PEC-PG Scholarship Programme

The PEC-PG, or Student Exchange Programme for Graduate Students, is a long-standing initiative of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel).
This programme aims to strengthen Brazil’s educational cooperation with developing nations by offering fully funded postgraduate study opportunities in leading Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Programmes Offered

Under the PEC-PG 2026 scheme, international applicants can apply for:

  • Full Master’s programmes
  • Full Doctorate programmes
  • Sandwich Doctorate programmes (part of the research conducted in Brazil and part in the home country)

  • Publication of available positions: September 30, 2025

  • Commencement of studies in Brazil: August 2026

Selection Process

The entire selection, evaluation, and approval process will be conducted exclusively by the Government of Brazil.
The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has clarified that it does not play any role in the nomination or selection of candidates for this scholarship.
