Bathinda, August 25, 2026: Students of the Central University of Punjab (CUP), Bathinda, showcased their creativity, problem-solving abilities and entrepreneurial spirit at a Startup Pitching Event organised by the University’s E-Cell on 21st August in collaboration with IIC. The event was held under the patronage of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari with the aim of encouraging students to develop innovative ideas into potential entrepreneurial ventures.
The pitching event provided students with an opportunity to present their startup ideas and innovative solutions before a panel of judges. Twenty-one students from different departments participated in the competition, presenting ideas aimed at addressing a range of real-world needs and challenges.
The ideas presented during the event reflected the diverse interests of the participants and covered areas such as food services, education, accessibility, agriculture, healthcare, travel, student services, digital platforms and artificial intelligence. The startups presented included MessMind, Atlas, DueDock, Editit, Unlock, AlpheeEats, Access Ability, SkillSwap, Medxquick, SwapX, Campus Quest, Farmigo, Smart & Affordable Road Travel, CaliGenie, Study Sync AI, Agropack Nigeria, AcouxMeta and Connectpay, among others.
The competition recognised the most promising startup pitches which was judged by panel of judges. Jatin Goyal, who presented AlpheeEats from the Department of Computational Sciences and Technology (CST), secured the First Position. Iyappan M, presenting Farmigo from the Department of Applied Agriculture, secured the Second Position, while Tanmay Tanaji Pujari, presenting AcouxMeta from the Department of Physics, won the Third Position.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Monisha Dhiman, President, IIC, appreciated the participants for presenting innovative ideas and demonstrating creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. She congratulated the winners and encouraged the students to make the most of available opportunities and platforms for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Students from various departments of the university including Computer Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Education, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Applied Agriculture, Financial Management and Administration, Physics etc., participated in this event which reflect the interdisciplinary nature of entrepreneurship and innovation at the University.
Certificates were distributed to all participants, while the winners were presented with awards and certificates in recognition of their innovative ideas and pitching performance.
The event highlighted the growing culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students at CU Punjab and provided students with a platform to move beyond classroom learning, explore their ideas and take their first steps towards building innovative solutions and future-ready enterprises.
