Kolkata: Exams season is already upon students and it is reaching a fever pitch. Yet institutes are still to decide the way of conducting exams; offline or in online mode.
Still, many institutes all over India have already started the offline examination but protest against initial move to conduct offline examination is continuing.
Along with students of most of the Universities all over India, students of various Universities in West Bengal have also started protest against offline examination after most of the Universities are deciding to go for offline examination. After the decision of Higher Education Department in West Bengal, the decision for mode of examination is to decide by the University.
In this context, Jadavpur University and Calcutta University has taken a decision to conduct examinations in an offline mode. After it, similarly Burdwan University, Aliah University, North Bengal University, and most of the Universities in Bengal are taking decision to conduct the offline examination.
However, the protest against offline examination has also started side by side by students of various Universities in West Bengal.
According to the students of North Bengal University, since the classes were held online due to the pandemic, conducting examination in an offline mode will be unfair. Students alleged that they were informed about offline exams three months back, however only 10% syllabus is been reduced. Similarly, students of Burdwan University on Tuesday have taken out a protest march against offline examination demanding exams in an online mode. Talking about the protest, students claimed the same reason saying since classes have been conducted in an online mode and there is no reduction in syllabus exams are need to be conducted in an online mode.
Whereas, students at Aliah University in Kolkata have blamed the heatwave as one of the reasons for the demand for online exams.
Students at North Bengal University said that the protest would continue until their demand is met. On the other, hand Burdwan University claimed decision would be taken regarding mode of examination in the meeting tomorrow.
