New Delhi. : The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the opening of applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme 2026, offered by the Government of Hungary through the Tempus Public Foundation. Indian students interested in pursuing higher education in Hungary can apply online until 15 January 2026.

. Students must complete the online application on the Hungarian portal and additionally send a printed copy of the submitted form along with supporting documents to:

About the Scholarship Programme
Under the Educational Exchange Programme Agreement between the Ministry of Human Capacities, Hungary, and the Ministry of Education, Government of India, 200 scholarships have been offered to Indian students for the year 2026. The allocation includes:
- Undergraduate: 50 scholarships
- Postgraduate: 75 scholarships
- PhD: 30 scholarships
- Interpreter, Translator & Literary Translator Studies: 5 scholarships
- Postgraduate Courses & Research (Part-Time): 40 slots
All UG, PG, PhD, and translation programmes will be full-time.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be an Indian citizen.
- Be born on or before 31 August 2008.
- Have secured at least 60% in the last qualifying examination.
- Have completed their last study programme from a recognized Indian educational institution.
- Submit the online application on the Tempus Public Foundation portal.
- Students who previously received this scholarship may apply again only for a higher or different level of study.
Application Requirements
- Applicants must submit photocopies of the following documents in order:
- Filled UGC application form.
- Printout of the Tempus online application (without annexures).
- Birth proof / Class X certificate.
- Marksheet of the last exam passed (Class XI marksheet if Class XII result is pending; previous semester marksheets if final-year graduation results are awaited).
- Conversion sheet if CGPA is mentioned—along with a certified multiplication factor.
- Passport or valid citizenship ID proof.
