SSC CPO Notification 2026 Out: 1,871 SI Vacancies in Delhi Police, CAPFs; Check Exam Pattern, Eligibility and Dates

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the notification for the Sub Inspector (SI) and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) recruitment in the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) 2026. A total of 1,871 vacancies have been released under this notification. The online application window opens on September 10, 2026.

Candidates who wish to apply for graduate-level jobs in policing and central armed forces must pay attention to the application deadline, since the written exam forms only one part of the selection process. Physical standards, endurance and medical fitness will matter later.

SSC CPO 2026: Key Details

The official notice lists 205 Delhi Police SI posts for men and 112 for women, while CAPFs account for 1,320 SI (GD) vacancies. In addition, 234 SI (Fire) posts in CISF have been notified, taking the total to 1,871.

SSC CPO Notification 2026: Post-Wise Breakdown

The CAPF vacancies are amongst the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF and SSB. Of these vacancies, BSF has the maximum number of CAPF posts, allocated at 457, followed by CRPF with 254, CISF with 250, ITBP with 187 and SSB with 172. Female and male posts are included in these numbers.

The SI (Fire) posts in CISF are a different category, are allocated 234 posts and have a different educational standard than other SI posts.

SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility

Educational Qualifications for Delhi Police Sub Inspector and CAPF SI (GD) (2026): Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University or equivalent. Candidates whose results are declared on or before the last date of submission of application are also eligible. Educational Qualifications for SI (Fire) in CISF: Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or specified engineering diploma as indicated in the notification.

The General Age Limit, as on 01.08.2026, is 20 to 25 years. This means the candidates born between 02.08.2001 and 01.08.2006 are only eligible. The Government rules shall apply for Age Relaxations in reserved and other specified categories. A Valid Licence for a Motorcycle and a Car is a requisite for the male candidates of Delhi Police SI in case they are to appear for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test. They can, however, apply for a CAPF SI post.

SSC CPO Exam Pattern 2026

The new pattern shall eliminate the ambiguity that existed earlier for the candidates in distinguishing the older patterns of SSC CPO. Paper-I will have 100 questions for 100 marks:

• General Intelligence and Reasoning – 25
• General Knowledge and General Awareness – 25
• Quantitative Aptitude – 25
• English Comprehension – 25

Each section will have a 15-minute time limit. There will be 0.25 negative marking for each wrong answer. The candidates qualifying for Paper-I will have to appear for the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET).

SSC CPO PET 2026: Physical Tests

Candidate-specific requirements for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) detail the race and jump distances, race times, and height for the high jump and shot put distance for both male and female candidates.

An important criterion for male candidates that constitutes the PET is a 100-meter race within 16 seconds, a 1.6 km race that has to be completed in 6.5 minutes, a long jump of 3.65 metres, a high jump of 1.2 metres, and a 4.5-metre shot put. Female candidates need to complete a 100-metre race in 18 seconds, an 800-metre race within 4 minutes, a long jump of 2.7 metres and a 0.9-metre high jump.

SSC CPO Application Fee and Correction Window

The application fee for other candidates is ₹100. Women candidates, SC/ST candidates and eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempted. Fee payment can be made online through UPI, net banking or eligible debit cards.

The window to make the application fee payment online will be from October 8 to October 10, 2026. Once submitted, candidates will have the opportunity to correct their application twice for a fee of ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction.

What Candidates Should Do Now

Candidates should refrain from waiting for the date of the Computer Based Test (CBT). The application should be filled and verified before the scheduled date of the Physical Test along with preparation for Paper I. The date of the SSC CPO 2026 examination will be announced later by the Commission; therefore, candidates are advised to monitor the SSC website for updates.

Final Thoughts

SSC CPO 2026 is not simply another computer-based recruitment exam. With 1,871 vacancies, a written test followed by physical, medical and document checks, the recruitment demands preparation on two fronts: score well and be physically ready. Candidates who start treating the PET as an afterthought may discover too late that clearing Paper-I is only the beginning.
