SSC Announces 25,487 GD Constable Vacancies for 2026 Recruitment Cycle

SSC has released 25,487 vacancies for GD Constable posts in CAPFs, SSF, and Assam Rifles for the 2026 cycle. Class 10 pass candidates can apply online until December 31, 2025. CBT exam is expected between February and April 2026.

New Delhi. : The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for 25,487 General Duty (GD) Constable posts for the 2026 recruitment cycle. The vacancies span across various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and the Rifleman (GD) cadre in Assam Rifles.

The positions fall under the Level-3 pay matrix, offering a salary range of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100. Eligible candidates who have passed Class 10 can now apply through the official SSC portal, ssc.gov.in. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) is tentatively scheduled to be conducted between February and April 2026.

Total Vacancies Across Forces

Out of the total 25,487 posts,

  • 23,467 vacancies are earmarked for male candidates
  • 2,020 vacancies are designated for female candidates

The category-wise distribution is as follows:

  • SC: 3,702
  • ST: 2,313
  • OBC: 5,765
  • EWS: 2,605
  • UR: 11,102

Selected candidates will serve in forces such as BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, Assam Rifles, and SSF, depending on vacancy allocation and merit ranking.

Important Dates

  • Last date to apply: December 31, 2025 (11 PM)
  • Last date for fee payment: January 1, 2026
  • Correction window: January 8 to January 10, 2026

During the correction period, candidates may edit details in their forms and pay applicable correction fees, if required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be eligible for SSC GD Constable posts:
  • Candidates must be 18 to 23 years old.
  • SC/ST applicants get 5-year age relaxation.
  • OBC candidates and ex-servicemen get 3-year relaxation.
  • Applicants must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
  • NCC certificate holders will receive an additional 5% incentive during the recruitment process.

As per SSC guidelines, ex-servicemen include individuals who have served in the Regular Army, Navy, or Air Force in any rank, whether combatant or non-combatant.

How to Apply

Candidates applying for the first time must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the SSC website.
After logging in with OTR credentials:

  • Open the SSC GD Constable 2026 application link
  • Fill in personal, academic, and communication details
  • Upload required documents
  • Pay the ₹100 application fee
  • Submit the online form

Once submitted successfully, the candidate’s application will be considered for the 2026 SSC GD recruitment cycle.
