637 graduates awarded degrees; Dr. V. Sanjana receives five gold medals for excellence in MBBS

Chennai, 25 April 2025: At the 39th convocation ceremony of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) held today in Chennai, Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services, delivered an inspiring address urging young medical graduates to remain ethical and compassionate even as technology revolutionizes healthcare.

“While artificial intelligence, genomics, robotic surgeries, and drone-based logistics are transforming healthcare, a doctor’s responsibility to listen, understand, and treat patients with dignity remains unchanged,” she said, emphasizing the delicate balance between modern innovation and timeless human values in the medical profession.

Drawing from her experiences in the Armed Forces Medical Services, she highlighted the lifesaving impact of telemedicine, AI-driven triage, and drone-enabled blood delivery in remote terrains. “You must lead this revolution grounded in science but guided by ethics,” she told the graduates, adding that every committed doctor is a soldier in the battlefield of life, whether in uniform or not.

Vice Admiral Arti Sarin also presented 40 gold medals to 29 meritorious candidates, with Dr. V. Sanjana receiving five gold medals for her all-round excellence in the MBBS programme.

Chancellor Mr. V.R. Venkataachalam conferred degrees upon 637 graduates, including Ph.D., undergraduate, and postgraduate students in medical, engineering, and management streams. Certificates were also distributed by Pro Chancellor Mr. R.V. Sengutuvan.
