MYAS Launches Comprehensive Internship Programme Offering 452 Paid Positions Annually

New Delhi. : The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has launched a Comprehensive Internship Programme aimed at creating a structured, large-scale platform to nurture young talent and strengthen India’s rapidly expanding sports ecosystem.

Under the new policy, 452 paid internships will be offered every year across the ministry and its key autonomous institutions, including the Sports Authority of India (SAI), National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL).

₹20,000 Monthly Stipend, ₹5.30 Crore Annual Budget

Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000, with the programme backed by a total annual budget of ₹5.30 crore. Focus on Practical Learning and Sports Governance

The internship programme will be open to students from colleges and universities and will offer structured exposure to areas such as sports administration, event management, sports science, athlete support, anti-doping education and policy implementation.

Launching the programme, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the initiative would empower young people to actively contribute to the growth of Indian sports, while meeting the increasing demand for professionally trained manpower as India expands its sporting infrastructure and global footprint.

Interns will be placed across MYAS and its major bodies, including SAI, NADA and NDTL. Participants will work closely with domain experts and receive structured onboarding, mentorship and real-time exposure to policy formulation and execution.

Exposure to Flagship Sports Schemes

Interns will directly contribute to national flagship programmes such as Khelo India, the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and the Target Asian Games Group (TAGG). They will also gain on-ground experience at SAI stadia, regional centres and National Centres of Excellence.

Selection process includes:

  • Application screening to verify eligibility, academic credentials, Statement of Purpose and No Objection Certificate.
