Gangotak : Sikkim University has announced a progressive step by introducing one day of menstrual leave each month for female students. This decision, effective from December 4, was formalized through a notification issued by Registrar Laxuman Sharma, following a proposal by the Sikkim University Students' Association (SUSA) last month.

The initiative allows female students to take a monthly leave that will count towards the mandatory 75 percent attendance requirement needed for semester exam eligibility, except during examination periods. This move aims to address the health needs of female students and foster a supportive academic environment.
