Pune: The eagerly anticipated second special round of admissions for First Year Junior College (FYJC) has kicked off on Tuesday, with Wednesday marking the closing date for fresh registrations and the modification of option forms for Class 11 candidates seeking admission.
As per the official announcement, the allocation list will be accessible on the official website of the School Education and Sports Department (https://pune.11thadmission.org.in/Public/Home.aspx) on August 4 at 10 am. In the recently concluded extended Special Round 1 of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), a total of 61,160 students finalized their admissions, leaving 1,23,235 seats still available for allocation.
The latest data, updated on Tuesday evening, reveals that a remarkable 2,13,220 students, which amounts to over 75 per cent of the total registered students, have already secured their admissions to junior colleges within the Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation areas.
The distribution of filled seats across streams demonstrates the demand trends: the Science stream has recorded an occupancy rate of over 62 per cent, followed by the Commerce stream at 54 per cent, and the Arts stream at just over 43 per cent. Notably, the count of students enrolled in English medium (2,01,642) significantly outnumbers those registered in Marathi medium (8,448). Urdu medium accounts for 2,774 students, and Hindi medium for 397.
Since the initiation of the online centralized admission process, a cumulative total of 100,438 students registered across all rounds. From this pool, 66,116 students have been admitted to the available 116,150 seats in the various rounds conducted so far.
Starting from Tuesday, August 1, the second special round for Class 11 admissions has begun, presenting an opportunity for new applicants who are yet to register or have not been able to secure admission for any reason. The admission process provides flexibility for these students to join the process and find suitable placements.
Remarkably, despite three regular rounds and one special round of Class 11 or FYJC admissions, a notable 50,034 seats remain unoccupied in the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad regions. Within the current admission rounds, a cumulative total of 100,438 students have engaged in the online centralised admission process, with 66,116 successfully securing admission to the available 116,150 seats.
In the concluding phase of the first special round, which concluded on July 31, a total of 61,800 seats were available, catering to the eligibility of 28,962 students. Among these eligible students, 25,973 were allocated colleges. Of the allocated colleges, 21,300 successfully completed their admissions in the first special round. Notably, 2,074 students secured admission in their preferred colleges, followed by 1,067 in their second choice, and 523 in their third choice colleges.
Furthermore, the detailed schedule for the second special round of Class 11 online centralised admissions within the Pune region was announced on Tuesday by the Director of Education (Secondary and Higher Secondary), Pune. After the conclusion of the first special round on Monday, colleges have posted the vacancy list, with the allotment list for the second special round scheduled for release at 10 pm on August 4.
The schedule for the second special round outlines that new submissions and updates to part 2 forms, as well as registration for new students, will be open from August 1. Until 10 pm on August 3, applicants can edit their application form (part 1), fill or modify their option form (part 2), and make the necessary updates online.
At 10 am on August 4, the allotment list for junior college admissions in the second special round will be accessible online. Subsequently, the cutoff list for this admission round will be posted, with SMS notifications sent to the students. Between 10 am on August 4 and 6 pm on August 5, students must confirm their admission to the allotted colleges. For those choosing to accept the admission offer, the process involves clicking 'proceed for admission' in the student login, submitting the requisite documents, and confirming the college placement. Students considering cancellation of their admission are advised to carefully weigh their decision, as this might be the final round with a substantial filling of seats projected.
On August 5, junior colleges will update the admission status of students on the website, alongside displaying the vacancies categorised by quota.
