Haryana, February 28: The two-day Science Festival organised at the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh concluded successfully. 11,000 students actively participated and contributed towards it. The programme was held in collaboration with the Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation and Technology under the theme “Women in Science: Catalysts for Viksit Bharat.”
In his message, the Patron of the programme and Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Haryana, Tankeshwar Kumar, stated that the science festival provides a valuable platform for both university and nearby school students, enabling them to showcase their knowledge and innovations while gaining recognition and encouragement.
The Chief Guest, Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Member of the National Security Advisory Board (Prime Minister’s Office) and former Chairman of DRDO, appreciated the initiative of providing school students with an opportunity to showcase their talent. He encouraged students to go beyond classroom learning and work towards innovation and scientific research.
School Level Competitions and Prize Distribution
The science show and prize distribution ceremony were held at the Moolchand Auditorium, CUH. The Science show was presented by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Tripathi, Education Officer, National Science Centre, Delhi. He demonstrated simple scientific experiments with school students and explained how science is an integral part of everyday life.
A prize distribution ceremony was held at the end of the programme. Awards were presented by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Tripathi and Prof. Pawan Kumar Maurya, Dean Academics, CUH.
In the Innovative Science Teaching Competition, the first prize was awarded to Dr. Manisha Reddy (CUH), second prize to Sushil Saini (GMSSS, Dholera), and the third prize was jointly won by Dr. Pinki Arora (CUH) and Rakesh Kumar (GMSSS, Dholera).
In the Best Out of Waste Competition, the first prize was jointly awarded to RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh; SD Senior Secondary School, Kakarala; and Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh. The second prize went to DPS School and National Model School, Mahendragarh, while the third prize was awarded to SD Senior Secondary School, Kakarala and BR Gyan Deep School, Mahendragarh. At the college level, CUH teams secured the first and second prizes, while the third prize was shared by CUH and Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jhojhu Kalan.
In the Working Model Competition, SD Senior Secondary School, Kakarala secured first place, RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh secured second place, and Tagore Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh secured third place. RP Green Maxx World School received the consolation prize. At the college level, CUH teams secured all three positions.
In the Poster Presentation, the first prize was jointly awarded to Eureka Public School, Narnaul and Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh. The second prize was awarded to SD Senior Secondary School, Kakarala and RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh, while the third prize was awarded to Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School and Shri Om Sai Ram School, Mahendragarh. At the college level, CUH teams secured all three positions.
In the Hindi Speech Competition, Yashika (RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh) secured first place, Harshita (BR Adarsh School, Mahendragarh) secured second place, and Kanchan (Modern Senior Secondary School) secured third place. At the college level, Akshit Kumar (CUH) secured first position, Kumkum (Government Women College, Narnaul) secured second position, and Prashant (CUH) secured third position.
In the English Speech Competition, Himanshi (Tagore Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh) secured first place, Aashi (RPS Senior Secondary School, Shehlang) secured second place, and Harshit (Shri Om Sai Ram International School, Mahendragarh) secured third place. At the college level, Deepika (CUH) won first prize, Anjali (PKS Government College, Kanina) won second prize, and Nikita (Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jhojhu Kalan) won third prize.
In the Painting Competition, the first prize was jointly awarded to RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh and PM Shri JNV, Kareeka. The second prize was shared by BR Gyan Deep School, RPS Senior Secondary School, and Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School, while the third prize was shared by RPS Senior Secondary School, Shri Om Sai Ram International School, and PM Shri JNV, Kareeka. At the college level, Government College, Narnaul secured first place, CUH secured second place, and Government College, Kanina secured third place.
In the Bhartiya Gyan Competition, Himanshu (BR Gyan Deep Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh) secured first prize, Jatin (RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh) secured second prize, and Anuj and Naitik (RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh) secured third prize. At the college level, Ashmita Yadav secured first prize, Chanki and Suryansh Dasondi secured second prize, and Ashutosh and Kuldeep secured third prize, all from CUH.
In the Quiz Competition,Tanya and Sakina from RPS Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh secured first prize, Jaishree and Himanshi secured second prize, and Kirti and Prachi from Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh secured third prize. At the college level, Sanjana Panda and Akanksha secured first prize, Sagar and Akshat secured second prize, and Priyanshu and Saurabh secured third prize, all from CUH.
Science Festival Receives Massive Participation
Dr. Gunjan Goel, Convener of the Science Festival, stated that the event was highly successful, with around 11,000 students participating in various activities. He appreciated the enthusiasm of participants and acknowledged the hard work and effective management of volunteers from different departments of CUH who contributed to the success of the event.
The successful organisation of National Science Day 2026 was managed by Prof. Gunjan Goel (Department of Microbiology), Prof. Phool Singh (SOET), Prof. Ankush Vij (Department of Physics & Astrophysics), Prof. Vinod Kumar (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta (Department of Mathematics), and Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma (Department of Nutrition Biology).
