New Delhi: Private schools in Delhi are charging 50 to 100 rupees late fee instead of five paise for the delay in payment of fees. Hearing in one such case, the Delhi High Court has ordered the Directorate of Education of the State Government to take appropriate action.

A bench of Justice Rekha Palli gave this order on a petition filed by a parent Ajay Agarwal against the school. The petitioner alleges that ignoring the private school law, late fee of Rs 50 per day was collected from his son. Government and Directorate of Education are not taking any action against the school management on their complaint.

The court has ordered the Directorate of Education in the matter to act in six weeks on the complaint given by the petitioner against the school on December 22, 2021. The court gave this order after advocate Hrishikesh Kumar, appearing for the state government, assured that appropriate action would be taken in the matter. The court also said that if the petitioner is not satisfied with the action of the Directorate of Education, then he can file the petition again.
