UK - The British Council has launched applications for its fully funded STEM scholarships for women for the 2026–27 academic year, offering aspiring female scholars from South Asia, including India, an opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship programme is designed to increase access to STEM education for women and promote their participation in scientific research, innovation, and leadership. It also aims to create a more inclusive and balanced global STEM ecosystem by supporting talented women with strong academic backgrounds.
As part of the initiative, 25 fully funded postgraduate scholarships have been allocated for candidates from South Asia. The programme is being delivered in partnership with five leading UK universities: the University of Edinburgh, the University of Glasgow, the University of Manchester, Queen Mary University of London, and Brunel University London.
Each selected candidate will receive financial support of up to £40,000, which covers full tuition fees, living allowance, travel expenses, visa costs, health-related expenses, and English language support where required. This comprehensive funding ensures that financial barriers do not prevent deserving candidates from accessing world-class education.
The British Council stated that the programme also focuses on long-term career development by connecting scholars with global alumni networks and professional opportunities. Participants will gain international exposure, build cross-border collaborations, and contribute to research and innovation in their home countries after completing their studies.
Overall, the programme offers 90 fully funded scholarships across 30 countries, reinforcing the British Council’s commitment to empowering women in STEM and fostering global academic excellence.
