Ireland Announces €10,000 Scholarships for International Students From January 29, 2026

The Government of Ireland’s International Education Scholarship programme opens on 29 January 2026, offering 60 scholarships of €10,000 and full tuition waivers for eligible international postgraduate students, including Indians.

New Delhi. : The Government of Ireland unveiled its 2026 International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) programme, set to begin accepting applications on 29 January 2026. This initiative is part of Ireland’s national strategy to attract global talent and strengthen its international academic footprint by making postgraduate education more affordable for high-potential students worldwide.

Under the programme, a total of 60 scholarships will be awarded to international students enrolling in full-time postgraduate programmes at Irish universities for the 2026–27 academic year. Each award includes a €10,000 stipend, which can help cover living expenses, while the host institution fully waives tuition fees for the duration of study — a significant financial incentive, especially for students from middle-income countries like India.

The scholarship plan is designed to:

  • Support master’s and PhD candidates in disciplines such as STEM, business, environmental studies, and social sciences.

  • Encourage cross-cultural exchange between Ireland and international cohort cohorts.

  • Strengthen linkages between global research communities and Irish higher education institutions.

Education experts say this scholarship opportunity comes at a time when many students are seeking cost-effective international education pathways with robust research infrastructure and strong post-study work prospects. Ireland’s commitment to funding and welcoming talent could make it a more competitive destination alongside traditional hubs like the UK, Germany, and Canada.
