Jamia Millia Islamia Hosts International Conference on Qu'ran and Science

Jamia Millia Islamia organized a three-day international conference on "Qu'ran and Science" to explore the connection relegious teaching and scientific understanding. Scholars from several countries participated to share academic and spiritual perspectives. The eveng focused on reflection, knowledge and harmony between faith and modern science.

New Delhi - Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) hosted a three-day International Conference on Qu'ran and Science", jointly organized by the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia Jamia Millia Islamia, the Wilayat Foundation, and Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran. The conference was held from January 28 to January 30, 2026, at Dr. M. A. Ansari Auditorium, JMI.

The conference was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and Registrar, JMI, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi. Scholars from India, Iran, Indonesia, Kuwait, and Europe participated in the academic deliberations.

Address the gathering Prof. Mazhar Asif emphasized that true success lies in understanding the Qu'ran deeply and applying its techniques in daily life. He highlighted the importance of making the Qu'ran guiding for individual and collective life and stressed that true relegion promotes peace, morality and non-harmful behavior. 

Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi stated that many verses of the Qu'ran draw attention to scientific realities such as the creation of water, the vastness of the Universe, and the origin of of humanity. He noted that the Qu'ran serves as both a book of guidance and a source of refkection on natural laws. 

Several eminent scholars shared their views, including Prof. Aslam Parvez, Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, Prof. Syed Shahid Ali, Prof. Dr. Jamileh Sadat Alamolhoda, Dr. Mohammad Fathali (Ambassador of Iran to India), Prof. Abdul Majeed Hakeem Elahi, Engineer Mustafa Abbas (Kuwait), and Syed Kalbe Jawad Naqvi. They highlighted the importance of reflection, knowledge, and understanding science in the light of Qur’anic principles.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Dr. Mohammad Munawwar Kamal. The proceedings were conducted by Mr. Junaid Haris and Dr. Mehdi Baqir. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mohammad Mushtak.

The conference witnessed participation from faculty members, researchers, students and guests from India and abroad. The Valedictory session is scheduled to be held on January 30, 2026, at the Conference Hall, Centre for Information and Technology (CIT), JMI
