KSUB Odia Chair Inaugurates two day National conclave on Odia Language and Identity

The Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja (KSUB) Odia Chair Faculty of Arts organized two-day National Conclave on Odia Language and Cultural Identity , highlighting the role of language in education, heritage and national unity.

Varanasi - The Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja Odia Chaur (KSUB), Faculty of Arts, organised a two-day National Conclave titled "Rediscovering Odia Language, Literature and Making of a Cultural Identity at The Malaviya Moollya Anusheelen Kendra. Inaugurating the event, Vice-chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi highlighted the Central role of language in education & knowledge systems, stressing that strong mother-tongue skills help learners adapt easily to other language and discipline.

 Guest of Honours Prof. Kailash Pattanaik , of Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, traced the historical evolution of the Odia Language across various dynasties of Kalinga, explaining how it assimilated diverse cultural influences while retaining the indigenous identity. ProfSushma Ghidyal, Dean Faculty of Arts, emphasized the role of Faculty in Nurturing Multilingualism and described the Odia Chair as a symbolic platform for promoting Odia language and culture through academic initiatives. 

The first day of the conclave featured scholarly sessions by Prof. Jitendra Kumar Nayak, Dr. Gaurihari  Das, Prof. Bishnu Mohanpatra and Prof. LakshmiKanta Tripathi, focusing on Odia literary, criticism, cultural identity and manuscript traditions. The day concluded with the plenary sessions by Prof. Kailash Pattnaik and a cultural programme, while the two-day event continues with discussions on Odia language, literature, history and cultural identity by scholars from across the country.
