Mumbai : In a first, the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is assembling a think-tank of professionals from the arts, sports, crafts, and health professions who will collaborate with the State Curriculum Framework (SCF) committees to develop an integrated syllabus. As suggested in the new National Education Policy, the goal is to implement an integrated approach to the state's curriculum (NEP). The NEP 2020 guidelines' new curriculum framework, which is still under debate, will emphasize an integrated method of instruction. The new approach supports subject integration to make learning more effective and enjoyable, such as teaching language through performing arts activities, as opposed to teaching different courses in isolation.
The NEP emphasizes integrated learning through activities, according to Dr. Neha Belsare, deputy director of SCERT for Social Science, Art, and Sports. By incorporating art, sports, or other activities that might increase a student's engagement in the learning process into teaching modules for various disciplines, the effectiveness of the instruction can be increased.
According to Dr. Belsare, the think tank will collaborate with the SCF. "The objective behind the development of a think-tank is to look at possibilities of including such teaching modules already in textbooks," said Belsare. He added that the SCF will be responsible for developing the curriculum, and the think-tank will be used to bring an integrated approach to the table.
Teachers may not be the only people in the think tank; interested people from other fields are also welcome. The SCERT has distributed a Google link to encourage applications from all throughout the state. SCERT will establish state-level brainstorming groups with the aid of technology.
