Refusing to postpone the NEET PG 2022 exam, the apex court said the delay would cause unavailability of doctors and seriously affect patient care.

“As regards to the submission that postponement will not cause prejudice, what must be borne in mind is that there are students who have registered. As the country gets back on the rails after which was caused due to the pandemic, the time schedule must be adhered to,” the court reportedly said.

The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) that moved the Supreme Court seeking postponement of the exam by 8 to 10 weeks said, “Candidates are not responsible for the delay in counseling of NEETPG2021. The demand for postponement of the examination of the candidates of NEETPG2022 is justified. We are deeply pained by the decision taken by the Hon'ble Supreme Court regarding NEETPG22.”

Earlier today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Candidates are not responsible for the delay in counseling of NEETPG2021. The demand for postponement of the examination of the candidates of NEETPG2022 is justified. Doctors served lakhs of people day and night during the Corona period. The government should not harass them, listen to them and do justice.”

NSUI national chairman Aditya Bhagat said, “The confusion persists! It is unjust towards the aspiring doctors that the counselling process is not being planned properly. There is not enough gap between the two counselling procedures which leads to confusion.”
