RGU Opens Ph.D. Admissions for January 2026 Cycle; NET Scores Mandatory for Selection

Rajiv Gandhi University has announced Ph.D. admissions for the January 2026 cycle across 26 departments, with selection based strictly on NET scores. Interested candidates must apply online via the Samarth portal and pay a fee of Rs. 300 by the deadline of February 7, 2026.

DOIMUKH, Arunachal Pradesh — Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), a premier Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 2007, has officially announced the commencement of its biannual Ph.D. admission process for the January 2026 Cycle.

The notification, issued by the Joint Registrar (Acad. & Conf.) Dr. Nani Tamang Jose with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, outlines a streamlined, digital-first application process for aspiring research scholars.

In a significant move to maintain high academic standards, the university has clarified that for this cycle, admission shall be conducted strictly based on scores obtained in the National Eligibility Test (NET) only. This underscores the university's commitment to merit-based research entry, bypassing independent entrance exams in favor of the national standard.
