Revised exam dates for Karnataka PSI exams to be released soon: Home Min. Araga Jnanendra

Karnataka: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said on Wednesday, August 3, that the state government would conduct those police sub-inspector examination very soon as it was invalidated a few months ago due to some alleged irregularities. The Home Minister assure the candidates who are appearing for the examination that the exam dates would released soon, a statement issued by his office said. Jnanendra also informed the candidates that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is looking into the case of irregularities. Once the investigation is ended the exam dates will be released soon. He also added that the 56,000 candidates who wrote the exams and did not indulge in any malpractices not to panic and assured them not to worry about losing the eligibility with respect to exceeding the age bar.

In the Karnataka Police sub-inspector (PSI) examination which was held in October 2021 for 545 police sub-inspector posts with 54,041 candidates appeared on it, a candidate named Viresh from Kalburgi wrote his exam at Jnana Jyothi English Medium school in the district. Although Viresh attempted around 20-odd questions scored 121 marks which became a matter of public interest after a friend leaked them. Apparently Viresh refused to pay the touts to his friend who had introduced him to it, came under pressure.

The CID arrested the main character of the scam, BJP leader Divya Hagaragi. She ran the Jnana Jyothi institution where Viresh appeared for the exam. The CID who was investigating this case, suspected that Divya had asked the invigilators to fill the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets in the last few minutes of the exam. The CID in charge of this case has managed to arrest around 70 people including the Additional Director General of Police, Amrit Paul, who was later suspended. The CID also arrested the security man of a Congress MLA, a deputy superintendent of police and a few other policemen including an inspector, sub-inspector, head constables, constables, and the candidates.
