New Delhi: UGC has taken a big decision under the new education policy. In fact, new research internship guidelines have been approved for 4-year UG degree courses. Now research internship has been made mandatory during the four-year degree courses. The purpose of making research internships mandatory is to emphasize skill learning.

There is also a provision for duration and credits of internship in the guidelines of Research Internship. Under which the students will have the opportunity of multiple entry and exit. During this internship, students will be provided the facility to leave their course in the middle and continue their studies from there again after the internship. The internship timeline of these students will depend on the duration of their course.

Internship of 10 weeks in a year will be mandatory:

Now the question arises whether students will get certificate after leaving the course and doing Research Internship after one year or else the answer is yes. For this an internship of 8-10 weeks will be necessary. 10 credit points have also been fixed for each year's internship. After stopping the course after 2 years, the student will get a diploma. For which also an internship of 8 to 10 weeks will be mandatory and students will also get 10 credit points. Internship of 10 credit points will be mandatory at the beginning of 7th semester i.e. 4th year. Overall, it will be mandatory for the student to get 40 credit points in the 4-year UG course.

Registration can be done in 2 ways:

These students will apply for research internship on their own or will be able to start internship with the help of the faculty of their current institute. However, an online portal has also been prepared for this. Where students will also be able to register themselves for their internships. At the same time, any institute will select the students for this research internship only on the basis of its standards. These guidelines will be applicable to IITs, NITs, Triple IT and all university research institutes.

45 hours a week required:

Students will be required to give 45 hours in a week for this research internship. Accordingly, if we estimate 10 weeks, then it will be mandatory to give 450 hours to the students in the total internship. On the basis of which students will be able to get certificate or diploma.
