QS MBA Rankings 2027: Top 3 IIMs Slip, Remain in Global Top 100
Although India’s top B-Schools have had a mixed bag, IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta have slipped in the rankings; they still stand among the top 100 full-time MBA programs in the world. Among the mentioned, IIM Bangalore is the highest ranked at joint 64th, accompanied by Ahmedabad at joint 70th, and Calcutta at 95th.
The rankings were announced on September 16, 2026, and over 420 MBA programs from 65 countries were assessed. This year’s results also reflect a wider presence from India, with 19 institutions compared to last year’s five.

IIM Ahmedabad at Joint 70th
IIM Ahmedabad secured a joint rank of 70th in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027. The strongest indicators reveal that IIM Ahmedabad is the only Indian school to fall into the global top 100 ranking at 84th in Entrepreneurship and Alumni Outcomes. Its overall position, however, is lower than the 58th position recorded in the 2026 QS MBA ranking.
IIM Calcutta Joins the Rankings at 95th
Of India's three IIMs in the QS Top 100, IIM Calcutta comes in at 95th. This makes India's representation even stronger than last year where IIM Calcutta occupied the 64th position. IIM Calcutta has therefore retained its position among the world's top 100 full-time MBA Programs for 2022. The move, however, is more pronounced this year.
What Does the QS MBA Ranking Measure?
Outside the Top 100, the numbers are a little more interesting. In 2020, only five Indian MBA schools were ranked by QS. The 2022 edition, however, gives 19 Indian schools a rank over five, and five schools have earned their first rankings during this process. Earning the highest ranking among the new set, O.P. Jindal Global University is placed in the 171–180 bracket. The following schools also secured a rank in the 301+ bracket: Jaipuria Institute of Management, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, and Vikrant University Gwalior.
What Does the QS MBA Ranking Focus On?
As QS does not rank universities, but rather individual full-time MBA programs, its focus on dimensions is more so on employability, alumni outcomes, value for money, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, thought leadership, and diversity. This distinction particularly matters for a ranking on the QS MBA table, as it should not in any way inflict an interpretation of the change on the overall academic standing of the IIMs.
QS Global MBA Rankings 2027: Top 4 in the World
The United States has most of the top spots for 2022. The top spot is MIT Sloan, followed by Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Penn Wharton.
