Chandigarh : The 7-day long Monsoon Session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha are starting from today, August 3, 2026. All the leaders and ministers has gathered in the assembly house for the main meetings. This session is going to be very busy because government want to discuss many important state issues and pass some new laws. Political environment is quite active since morning as both government side and opposition leaders are making their plans ready for the house debates.
New Bill Table in the House -
The biggest work for the government today is that the permanent bill is being table in the assembly. State government is officially introducing the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Un-aided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2026 during this opening session. Before this, there was only a temporary ordinance working in the state. Now the main target of the government is to replace that temporary rule and turn it into a complete permanent law through voting in the house.
Why Private School Fee Law Matter -
This fee regulation bill is very big news for all ordinary families and parents in Punjab. For long time, many private schools was increasing their school fees every year without taking proper permissions from the department. Parents was facing heavy load on their pocket every time new session starts. So this new law want to control the heavy fee demand of private educational institutes strictly. After this bill becomes actual law, private school management cannot raise fee randomly like before and they will have to follow strict state limits.
What Changes Will Come for Parents -
Under this new proposed bill, private school will not be allowed to raise their total fees by more than 5% in a single year on their own choice. If any school really need to increase fee more than 5%, then they have to submit proper applications and take written approval from the district authority first. Also, if any school have taken extra fees illegally in last three years, they will have to refund that money back to the parents. The district bodies will also get full powers to check financial accounts of schools to stop money cheating.
Expectations From Seven Days Session -
Because this assembly session is only for 7 days, every single day is going to be full of heavy workload. Along with this important educational fee bill, government have planned to bring few other public welfare bills also. Opposition leaders is planning to question the government on many issues like development works, public security, and state expenses. But passing this educational fee bill smoothly remain top priority for the running state government, so that millions of students and parents gets permanent relief from arbitrary school fee problems.
