Kolkata: Private Schools in West Bengal were warned by State government on Thursday to stop offline classes from May 7.

In the meeting held today by West Bengal government, it has asked all private schools to go for online classes or advance summer break.

West Bengal government in a meeting held previously on April 27 has directed all the private and government schools, colleges, and universities to continue with online classes from May 2 until any further order by state government due to the weather condition last week.

However, private schools have denied the order of the government and have started the offline classes seeing the sudden change in present weather condition.

Hence, on Thursday West Bengal Government called meeting in which heads of almost 30 private schools were invited for the discussion to continue online classes.

“The private schools should not conduct in-person classes in school buildings now in the interest of students falling sick in the extreme heat conditions. In addition, they should not take any unilateral decision against the statement of Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee,” said, Principal Secretary of School Education department, Manish Jain.

Therefore, no offline classes will hold for the students from tomorrow in the private schools in West Bengal and the vacation will continue until June 2022.
