Pondicherry University have finally started its brand-new campus bus service on July 17, 2026. The official ceremony happened today at 12:15 PM inside the university main area. A lot of students, teachers, and big officers gathered to see this new vehicle. For a long time, students was demanding a better transport facility inside the big campus, and now their dream have come true. Everyone was looking very happy during the event because this bus will solve a big daily problem for everyone.
The atmosphere was just like a big festival. The bus was decorated with beautiful flowers and ribbons. The Vice Chancellor and other top staff members arrived exactly on time to start the program. Students stood on both side of the road and they cheered loudly when the engine started for the first time. It is a very big day for the whole university family.
Funded by MP Selvaganabathy :
This full bus has been sponsored completely by Shri S. Selvaganabathy. He is the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Puducherry. He gave the money from his special fund because he know that students face many problems while travelling. The university did not have to spend any money from their own pocket for buying this bus.
During the ceremony, the MP said that helping students is always his main priority. He believe that if students get good facilities, they can focus nicely on their studies. The university management gave a big thank you token to the MP for his kind help. Students also made a big round of applause to show their love and respect to him for solving their major headache.
Relief for Daily Transit :
Moving around this huge campus was very difficult for everyone until now. The distance between different departments, hostel rooms, and the main gate is too much. Students had to walk for miles under the hot sun every single day. Because of this, many students used to get late for their morning lectures and labs. Now, this new bus will keep running from one corner to another corner throughout the day.
It will save a lot of time and energy for the young boys and girls. Now they don't have to sweat in the heat or run fast to catch the classes. The bus have plenty of seats and good space so that many people can sit together comfortably. This is going to make the daily life very simple and tension-free for thousands of students who lives here.
Event Highlights & Reactions :
The inaugural function went very smooth and nice. After cutting the ribbon, the MP and the Vice Chancellor took a small ride inside the campus along with few student representatives. They checked the seats and everything inside the vehicle. The driver was also looking very proud to drive this new vehicle. Sweets was distributed to everyone who attended the function.
Many students shared their views with us after the event finished. One hostel student said, "We are very thankful to the MP sir. Earlier we had to spend money on autos or walk in the heavy sun, but now life will become very easy." Another group of research scholars said that this service will help them to reach the library fast during night hours also.
Future Transport Plans :
The university management are planning to make transport even more better in the coming days. They said that if this bus service runs successfully, they will try to add one or two more buses very soon. They want to create a proper timetable so that no one have to wait for more than ten minutes at the bus stop.
Special parking spots and bus shelters will also be constructed near every major department. The student council have requested the authority to maintain the bus nicely so it does not break down frequently. The university promised that regular checking will be done. For now, the students is just super excited to take their first ride on their own new campus bus from tomorrow morning.
