NEW DELHI: In a major push towards accessible and inclusive education, the Government of India is expanding digital learning through the PM eVidya initiative. Designed to provide 24×7 learning access, the platform brings together television, mobile applications, and online resources, ensuring that students across the country can continue their education anytime and anywhere.
One of the key features of PM eVidya is its 200 DTH TV channels, which broadcast curriculum-based content aligned with NCERT, SCERT and State Boards. In addition, students can access educational content in 45 Indian languages, making learning more inclusive and regionally accessible. The initiative also extends to 393 radio stations, including All India Radio and community radio, helping reach learners even in areas with limited internet connectivity. The platform integrates major digital learning tools such as DIKSHA, SWAYAM, and the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya, offering a wide range of e-content, books, and courses. It also includes innovative tools like e-Jaadui Pitara, aimed at enhancing foundational learning, along with accessibility features designed specifically for Divyang and Children With Special Needs (CWSN) learners. Education experts highlight that initiatives like PM eVidya are crucial in bridging the digital divide and ensuring continuity in education. By combining multiple mediums-TV, radio, and digital platforms, the programme creates a flexible learning ecosystem that supports students across different socio-economic backgrounds.
As India continues to move towards a technology-driven education system, PM eVidya stands out as a key step in empowering learners with equitable access, multilingual content, and flexible study options, helping them stay connected to education beyond traditional classrooms.
