Oxford Students At UNHRC: Highlighting India’s AI Driven Education Model

Focus on inclusive learning and technology-backed education at global human rights forum

Geneva, Switzerland: At the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), students from the University of Oxford highlighted India’s growing push toward AI-driven and inclusive education. The discussion took place during a side event titled “Nai Talim 2.0: Crafting the Equitable AI Future”, where India’s evolving education model was presented to global delegates.

The session focused on combining experiential learning with artificial intelligence and digital tools to make education more accessible and equitable. Diplomats and participants from multiple countries joined the discussion, exploring how technology can improve learning outcomes and reduce educational gaps across regions.

Oxford students associated with the initiative pointed out that India’s approach places strong emphasis on a human-centred use of AI, especially in rural and underserved areas. They noted that the country’s policies, including focus on literacy, numeracy and digital access, are helping expand educational opportunities and position India as an emerging player in global education reform.

They also highlighted the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, particularly its focus on vocational training and practical skills. According to the speakers, combining digital learning with skill-based education can improve employability and address inequalities, offering a model that other countries may learn from.
