New Delhi, 29 October: In a significant statement, UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar has affirmed that online education has reached a level of credibility comparable to traditional and distance learning. As leading universities across India increasingly adopt online programs, the acceptance of these qualifications still varies among employers and regions.
Kumar acknowledged the growing flexibility and credibility of online education but noted that biases toward traditional degrees remain prevalent. He emphasized the need for rigorous standards in online courses, as well as the importance of additional certifications to enhance employability.
To further bridge the gap between online and traditional education, Kumar called for collaborative efforts among educational institutions, employers, and policymakers. By addressing these biases and ensuring quality education, the future of online learning can be strengthened, paving the way for greater acceptance in the job market.
