Ministry of Education Invites Applications for Vice Chancellor Post at University of Hyderabad

The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has invited applications for the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad. Eligible candidates can apply online through the SAMARTH portal upto March 10, 2026.

Hyderabad - The Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Government of India, has issued an official advertisement inviting applications for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad. The Vice-Chancellor, as the academic and administrative head of the university, is expected to possess the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment.

According to the notification, the candidate must be a distinguished academician with a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Professor in a university or 10 years’ experience in a reputed research and/or academic administrative organisation with demonstrated academic leadership. The applicant should preferably not be more than 65 years of age as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

The post carries a fixed pay of Rs. 2,10,000 per month along with a Special Allowance of Rs. 11,250 and other usual allowances. The terms and conditions of service will be governed by the provisions laid down in the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University. The appointment will be made from a panel of names recommended by a Committee constituted under the provisions of the University Act.

Candidates are required to apply online only through the Ministry of Education’s SAMARTH portal at https://vcrec.samarth.ac.in/index.php/. The application link will remain active from February 9, 2026 (10:00 AM) to March 10, 2026 (5:00 PM).
