New Delhi ;  - The India Post, under the Department of Post, has officially released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment Notification 2026 on its website. The recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 28,740 GDS posts in various postal circles across India.

According to the notification, the online application process began on 31 January 2026, and eligible candidates can apply up to 14 February 2026. The last date for fee payment and final submission of applications is 16 February 2026, while the correction window will be open from 18 to 19 February 2026.

Candidates applying for the GDS posts must meet the prescribed age criteria, with a minimum age of 18 years and a maximum age of 40 years as on 1 January 2026. Age relaxation will be provided to eligible candidates as per government norms.

The application fee is ₹100 for General and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, PH candidates and all female applicants are exempted from paying the fee. The fee can be paid online by debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS or mobile wallet.

India post has advised applicants to carefully verify all details from the official GDS recruitment portal before submitting their forms. The selection process for GDS posts is expected to be merit-based and details regarding the merit list will be announced later.

The GDS recruitment is considered one of the largest employment drives conducted by India Post and provide significant job opportunities for candidates seeking government employment at the grassroots level.
