Odisha Approves ₹452 Crore Integrated Power Electronics Hub at IIT Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, September 18, 2026: The Odisha government has approved a ₹452 crore National Industry Co-Development Hub on Integrated Power Electronics at IIT Bhubaneswar, as part of efforts to strengthen semiconductor research, innovation and commercial applications in the state.
The project was announced by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the SEMICON India 2026 event in New Delhi.
The proposed hub will be developed under the Indian Design, Semiconductors, Packaging and Systems programme and will be jointly funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of Odisha, Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and industry partners.
Hub to Bring Research Closer to Commercial Applications
The integrated power electronics hub is intended to establish an industry-led centre of excellence focused on power electronics and related semiconductor technologies.

The state said it received semiconductor and electronics investment proposals worth approximately ₹23,600 crore during SEMICON India 2026.
These proposals are estimated by the state to have the potential to generate around 6,100 jobs.
The proposed technology cluster is expected to accommodate electronics and information technology projects and is positioned along the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar urban corridor.

Odisha has also outlined fiscal incentives for semiconductor-related projects.
For projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission, the state will provide additional fiscal support of up to 25% of eligible capital expenditure, according to the state's investment presentation.
