California - The Branner Earth Sciences Library, under Stanford University Libraries, has opened its February 2026 Monthly Book & Map Exhibit titled Oceans: The Arctic. The exhibition is part of the 2025–2026 academic year exhibit series that explores Earth’s oceans and their role in regulating climate and sustaining life.
This month’s exhibit highlights the Arctic Ocean, examining how ocean structure, sea ice processes, and ecological interactions influence Arctic systems and global climate feedbacks. It also sheds light on emerging environmental, scientific, and societal challenges in a rapidly changing Arctic region.
Featuring a created collection of books, e-resources and maps the exhibition demonstrate the Artic's importance in advancing understanding of climate dynamic, biodiversity and human-environment interactions in a warning world.
The exhibit is open for viewing from Monday to Friday during regular library hours at the Mitchell Earth Sciences Building, Stanford University. Entry is open to students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, staff, affiliates, and visitors with valid identification. The exhibition will remain on display through February 25, 2026.
