Nice, France, June 15, 2026: Nothing, a London-based consumer electronics venture, has signed two MoUs with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), and the Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), during Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France.
The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, and IIT Roorkee’s Board of Governors Chairman, and former Solicitor General of India, Shri Harish Salve, were present at the event. The MoUs were signed by Akis Evangelidis, the Co-founder and India President of Nothing, Prof. K.K. Pant, the Director of IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, the Director of the Indian Institute of Science. Bharat Innovates 2026 was organized by the Ministry of Education, and is a showcase of India’s deep-tech start-ups for investors, corporates, research institutions, and policymakers, prior to the G7 Summit.
As stated by Akis Evangelidis, the partnerships with IIT Roorkee and IISc-FSID would rely on Nothing’s global technology product experience to generate possibilities for innovation and industry collaboration in India and offer employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to the Indian populace, especially the students and researchers.
These collaborations work towards building a connected ecosystem for academia, startups, and industry within the boundaries of India's innovation landscape.
Nothing's collaboration with IIT Roorkee will see Nothing supporting students and future innovators through mentorship, expert lectures, industry case studies, and various forms of knowledge dissemination on entrepreneurship and deep-tech innovation, product engineering, and electronic design. The partnership will also assess the feasibility of collaboratively conducting an Industrial Design Challenge to help participants gain experience in the design and innovation of consumer technologies.
Regarding the collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science and the Foundation for Sports and Innovative Design, Nothing will work with the startups fostered in the IISc incubation ecosystem by providing them with mentorship, networking, startup, and other related programs, as well as potential pilots and commercial collaborations. The initiative will also include industry exposure and training to the students and founders by providing them guest lectures and possible tours of Nothing's facilities.
Nothing asserts that the partnerships synergize to fast-track deep-tech entrepreneurship, the commercialization of research, and international collaborations. By interlinking the three sectors, the partnerships aim to provide aspiring innovators with the mentoring and resources they need to develop technologies that have global relevance.
