Changes to Junior Class School Times in Noida Defined by District Administration
School Timings in Noida and Greater Noida schools have been officially revised by the Gautam Buddh Nagar District Administration. New directives mean the timing policy will be applicable to all students in Classes 1 to 8, with the new policy becoming operational immediately on June 29, 2026. In the notification, the local education authority has indicated the new policy will be in effect until further notice from the higher authorities.
Given the recent consistent daytime temperature spikes in the Delhi-NCR region, the ongoing health and safety risk to young children made the decision positive. Gautam Buddh Nagar District Basic Education Officer (BSA) issued an order to all schools and instructed them to mitigate the problem of heatstroke by reducing the school day. It is important to clarify that all safety measures and changes to school day hours will apply to all district boards in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
New School Timings
Primary and middle schools are now required to operate in the morning. There is an edict that the school opens at 7:00 AM, with all school activities wrapping up by 12:00 PM. After this time, the heat is too unbearable to allow the school to function as it does in the hours before noon.
School heads in the public and private sectors have been warned about the 12:00 PM closing time. Classes shouldn't be run after this time. Anyone found going against this will face an immediate, harsh administrative punishment. The seriousness of this rule is to ensure that children make it home before it becomes too hot to be outside.
Applicable to Private and Government Schools:
This recently set morning timing policy does not apply exclusively to local state board schools. It encompasses the entire educational system of the district. The notice covers all government, government-aided, recognized private schools, CBSE, ICSE, and Madrasas located in Noida. During our time at the university, we learned that policy equality is vital. This assertion manifests the policy in practice.
The notice goes on to say that the climate advice cannot be ignored by any particular institution and that many of the more well-known private schools in Noida have already shared electronic communications with parental groups via WhatsApp and have emailed them to adjust the bus pick-up time. School transport crews are changing local routes to ensure that all students are transported by 12:00.
These hot and humid spells have a few things in common:
The main cause of this changing pattern is the unusual delay in the southwest monsoon's traversal of North India. Typically, rains around the end of June lead to cooler temperatures. This year, however, many of the states in North India, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana, have been experiencing a prolonged hot and humid spell. The situation is also described as being intolerably hot. Teaching in the classroom has become even more difficult.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has offered a glimmer of hope, saying wind conditions have become slightly more favorable for the progression of the monsoon. Until the clouds of the monsoon come to give relief with rains, the hot conditions will persist. The District Administration is monitoring the situation and could enforce a further reduction of hours or a shift to all online classes if the situation worsens.
