NIT Sikkim to organize Workshop on Mental Health and Well being

The initiative aims to create awareness about mental health challenges and equip participants with practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being. The programme will focus on building resilience among students, researchers, and professionals, while encouraging open discussions around mental health.

Sikkim: The National Institute of Technology Sikkim has announced a five-day online workshop on “Promoting Positive Mental Health, Resilience and Wellbeing,” scheduled to be held from April 27 to May 1, 2026.

The initiative aims to create awareness about mental health challenges and equip participants with practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being. The programme will focus on building resilience among students, researchers, and professionals, while encouraging open discussions around mental health.

According to the announcement, the workshop will include sessions on mental health literacy, coping mechanisms, and techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation, and emotional regulation. Such initiatives are increasingly important as mental health concerns among young people continue to rise across India, driven by academic pressure, social factors, and lack of awareness.

Experts note that early intervention and awareness programmes can play a key role in improving mental well-being and reducing stigma associated with mental health issues. The workshop is expected to provide participants with tools to better understand psychological challenges and seek appropriate support when needed.

The institute has encouraged interested participants to register and take part in the programme, highlighting the importance of mental well-being alongside academic and professional development.
