Meghalaya, India, The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is set to host the second edition of the IEEE North-East India International Energy Conversion Conference and Exhibition (NE-IECCE) 2026. This flagship event will take place from June 12 to June 14, 2026, at the institute's Sohra (Cherrapunjee) campus in Meghalaya. The conference is a collaborative effort between the Department of Electrical Engineering at NIT Meghalaya, the IEEE Guwahati Subsection, and the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Student Branch Chapter.
Since its inception in 2010, NIT Meghalaya has established itself as a premier center for technical education and research. The Department of Electrical Engineering, which is accredited by the NBA, maintains a strong focus on cutting-edge fields such as Smart Grid Technologies, Electric Vehicles, and Renewable Energy Integration. This upcoming conference aims to bring together a diverse group of researchers, industry professionals, and government representatives to showcase advancements in sustainable energy conversion and transport electrification. Participants will engage in discussions regarding modern smart grids, advanced control systems, and the future of sustainable electric mobility.
The conference maintains high academic standards, requiring all submissions to undergo a rigorous peer-review and plagiarism check. Following the initial review, accepted papers will have the opportunity to submit a full six-page manuscript by March 31, 2026. All accepted and presented papers will be submitted to IEEE Xplore for publication and indexing in major databases. The working language for all presentations and printed materials is English.
Registration fees vary based on membership status and timing. Early bird registration is available until March 31, 2026, with fees starting at ₹9,000 for Indian IEEE members and $300 for foreign IEEE members. Regular registration remains open until April 10, 2026. The institute provides hostel accommodation for students and research scholars at minimal charges, while guest room facilities are available for faculty and professionals. To reach the venue, attendees can travel via Guwahati Airport, Guwahati Railway Station, or Shillong Airport, with taxi services available to transport participants to the Sohra campus.
The IEEE NE-IECCE 2026 presents a transformative opportunity for the youth, particularly aspiring engineers and student researchers. By participating in such a high-caliber international event, students gain direct exposure to global experts and the latest technological breakthroughs in green energy. The conference offers a specialized Student Award, providing a platform for young innovators to be recognized for their original research. Furthermore, the availability of limited travel funds ensures that financial constraints do not hinder deserving students from presenting their work. This environment fosters networking with industry leaders and academic peers, opening doors for future collaborations, internships, and careers in the rapidly evolving sustainable technology sector.
At EduAdvice, we believe that staying informed about global academic platforms is the first step toward a successful career. This conference at NIT Meghalaya is more than just an event; it is a gateway for the next generation of innovators to contribute to a sustainable future. We encourage all students and professionals to seize this opportunity to learn, network, and lead.
