- Ten-day workshop introduces 120 shortlisted participants to aerodynamics, MAVLink, SLAM and swarm technology through hands-on engineering activities.
Kurukshetra, October 20, 2026: The AERO CLUB of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra concluded the third edition of SKYFORGE with a valedictory ceremony on October 15, 2026. The 10-day workshop was organised under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's (MeitY) Capacity Building for Human Resources Development in Drone and Related Technology Project, in collaboration with the institute's Drone Lab.
The workshop brought together 120 shortlisted participants for structured learning and practical engineering exposure in drone technology, progressing from fundamental concepts of aerodynamics to advanced topics in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems.
Ten-Day Workshop Covers Advanced Drone Technologies
SKYFORGE 3.0 introduced participants to several areas of drone engineering and related technologies. The programme covered:
-
Aerodynamics: Fundamental principles underlying flight and aircraft movement.
-
MAVLink: A communication protocol used in unmanned vehicle systems.
-
SLAM: Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping, a technology used by autonomous systems to map their surroundings while tracking their position.
-
Swarm technology: Concepts involving the coordinated operation of multiple autonomous or unmanned systems.
The workshop combined theoretical learning with hands-on engineering experience, allowing participants to explore the technical concepts associated with modern UAV systems.
Valedictory Ceremony Marks Completion
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Prof. Lillie Dewan, Chief Investigator and Dean of Student Welfare; Dr. Sanjay, Activity and Lab Coordinator; and Dr. Shelza and Dr. Satyender, Research Associates.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dewan appreciated the composure they had demonstrated throughout the workshop and encouraged them to continue exploring the field of drone technology.
Every participant received a certificate upon completion of the programme. Group photographs were also taken with the participating teams to mark the conclusion of the workshop.
Faculty and Organising Team Recognised
The institute acknowledged the guidance and contributions of faculty members and mentors who supported the programme. The team included Prof. Lillie Dewan, Prof. Mahesh Pal, Dr. Poonam Jindal and Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh.
The AERO CLUB and Drone Lab collaborated to deliver the third edition of SKYFORGE under MeitY's capacity-building initiative for drone and related technologies.
Building Skills in Drone and UAV Engineering
With 120 shortlisted participants completing the 10-day programme, SKYFORGE 3.0 provided an opportunity to explore drone engineering through a combination of foundational concepts and advanced technical topics.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates and recognition of the efforts of participants, faculty members, mentors and the organising team.
