The National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) has released an important notification for hiring Indian Nationals either within the Country or abroad. The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has accorded Institute of National Importance status to NIT Goa. NIT Goa invites candidates with good academic records, research potential, and a keenness to participate in the development of the Institute to apply. Assistant Professor vacancies are in the Departments of CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. For Associate Professor, posts are in the Departments of CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering, and for Professor vacancies all the Departments of CSE, ECE, EEE, Mathematics, and English.
NIT Goa Faculty Recruitment 2026: Pay Scale
The pay scales for the notified faculty positions are:
- Professor, level 14A: ₹1,59,100
- Associate Professor, level 13A2: ₹1,39,600
- Assistant Professor Grade-I, level 12: ₹1,01,500
- Assistant Professor Grade-II, Level 10: ₹70,900
The notification gives the rules for faculty with ex-gratia stipulated Academic Grade Pay.
Departments and Preferred Specialisations
NIT Goa is seeking talent in AI/ML, cybersecurity, quantum computing, high-performance computing, edge-AI accelerators, IoT, VLSI, power systems, robotics, automation and environmental engineering, among many others. Let’s take Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) recruitment for instance. Preferences in this area could be found in theoretical computer science, software engineering, databases, computer architecture, cybersecurity, cloud computing, human-computer interaction, and AI/ML.
In Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), we see interests in Edge AI, FPGA/GPU platforms, IoT, Sensors, and IoT, terahertz and Quantum communication, VLSI and data science.In Civil and Mechanical Engineering, we find preferences in automation, robotics, manufacturing, automobile engineering, and materials, along with many others. Eligibility Criteria
NIT Goa states that new appointments require a PhD in a relevant or allied discipline and a First Class throughout the degree starting from the Bachelor’s. The required experience for each is as follows:
- For appointment as Professor, the candidate should possess a PhD and a total of 13 years of experience.
- For appointment as Associate Professor, a PhD and a total of 9 years of experience is required.
- For appointment as Assistant Professor Grade I, a PhD is required along with 6 years of total experience.
- For appointment as Assistant Professor Grade II, a PhD is required with no additional experience.
Selection Process
This is a complex recruitment process and is not just an application and interview process. An application review and shortlisting process based on criteria such as eligibility, credit score, research and academic performance, and work experience will be done before shortlisting and inviting candidates to apply. If the number of applicants is relatively high, NIT Goa may set a higher standard for shortlisting or conduct a written examination.
Shortlisted candidates are expected to deliver a black board/white board lecture on one of the UG core subjects and a personal interview. Shortlisted candidates are also expected to give a research presentation outlining their past research and future research plan.
How to Apply for NIT Goa Recruitment 2026
Eligible candidates are expected to apply online using the NIT Goa recruitment portal. The online application window will close at 5 PM on September 30, 2026. Candidates must print the application after completion, attach all the self-attested documents and submit them by speed/registered post. The deadline for the hard copy submissions is 5 PM on October 7, 2026. The application fees for General/OBC are Rs 1500, Rs 500 for Women, SC/ST/PwD/EWS are exempted, and US $50 for Indians living outside India. Each application and fee will be for individual posts and departments.
