New Delhi, June 13: The National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA), representing the largest network of budget private schools in India, has noted with concern the continuous leak of question papers in India’s NEET and JEE Exams and demanded the setting up of a National Examination Reform Commission to address loopholes in the system. They have expressed the need to address examination malpractices.
During the press meet that was held at the Press Club on the weekend, NISA National President Dr. Kulbhushan Sharma mentioned the ever-rising paper leaks as one of the reasons that the importance of the Class 12 Board Exam has diminished in the admission process for higher education.
Since the Class 12 Board Exam has little or no role in the admission for professional courses, students are free to enrol in coaching as they do Dummy School enrollments. This has caused the coaching sector to grow with a financial scale that is now on par with the formal education sector as a whole.
Dr. Sharma said the coaching sector’s profits attract a lot of illegal actions, such as exam paper leaks. After these events, people demand the resignation of a minister or a department official. Dr. Sharma said resignations and punishment of employees will not prevent paper leaks. To prevent these practices, the policy-related issues that enable them must be resolved.
NISA Joint Secretary Dr. Dilip Modi talked about an equally important matter, whereby the governing board of CBSE provides representation predominantly to schools located in Delhi. Since CBSE is a national board, said Dr. Modi, the schools of every state and every region of the country should be reflected in the governing board.
Dr Modi further said the Government has already framed Coaching Guidelines 2024 to regulate coaching institutes. But these have not yet been implemented. He urged the Government to implement the Coaching Guidelines 2024 at the national level as soon as possible to control the rampant expansion of the coaching industry.
NISA once again stressed the need for thorough examination reforms and requested the Prime Minister to set up the National Examination Reform Commission in order to make the examination system of the country more secure, transparent, and reliable. Also present at the press conference were Lakshya Chhabadia, Devender Arora, Kodaram, and several other NISA office bearers.
