NID Foundation and Chandigarh University set a Guinness World Record for the largest flag waving people formation

:- Together with volunteers from the NID Foundation, 5885 students from Chandigarh University and other institutions of higher learning created the human representation of a waving flag in 2 hours and 45 minutes, breaking the previous record

Chandigarh: At the Chandigarh cricket stadium in Sector 16 on Saturday to commemorate 75 years of India's independence, students from Chandigarh University broke a new Guinness World Record for the world's largest human construction of a waving national flag.

By breaking the previous record set by a United Arab Emirates-based organization, the feat was accomplished. Together with volunteers from the NID Foundation, 5885 students from Chandigarh University and other institutions of higher learning created the human representation of a waving flag in 2 hours and 45 minutes, breaking the previous record. The event, which the organizers claimed was an effort to do something different to honor the country's Independence Day, drew at least 25,000 spectators from a variety of backgrounds.

"GEMS Education in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, set the previous world record for the largest human formation of a waving national flag in 2017, with 4130 people. The NID Foundation and Chandigarh University today set a new record, according to Swapnil Dangarikar, an official adjudicator for the Guinness Book of World Records.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, the vice chancellor of Chandigarh University, and Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit received the Guinness World Record certificate from Dangarikar after he had confirmed the record.

Later, Sandhu stated, "Under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, we felt we will take the lead and do something distinctive this year on the global scale. So, we decided to attempt to beat the 2017 Guinea World Record.

By holding the event, Singh continued, they also hoped to inspire residents to embrace their national identity and foster patriotism, as well as to inspire them to help the Government of India reach its goal of raising the Tricolor on top of 20 crore homes nationwide.

Other attendees at the ceremony on Saturday included Chandigarh mayor Sarabjit Kaur, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, UT Administrator's Advisor Dharam Pal, and other top UT administrators.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's independence, Governor Purohit stated that Chandigarh has sent a powerful statement to the entire world with this accomplishment.

"This event has grown even bigger than I had anticipated. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor of Chandigarh University and Chief Patron of the NID Foundation, deserves my sincere congratulations for leading his team to success.

Purohit praised the efforts of Chandigarh University and the NID Foundation for successfully uniting people to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the country's freedom and celebrate the spirit of patriotism.
