NHAI Opens Applications for Summer Internship 2026, Expands Opportunities Across Disciplines

The 2 month internship offers hands-on experience in India’s highway infrastructure sector. Students from engineering, management, law and other fields can apply by April 15, 2026.

NEW DELHI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited applications for its Summer Internship Programme 2026, aimed at providing practical exposure to students in the field of national highway development. Scheduled between May and July 2026, the programme is designed to build industry-relevant skills by engaging participants in real-world infrastructure projects under expert supervision.

This year, the internship has been expanded beyond civil engineering to include a wide range of disciplines. Along with core engineering fields such as Civil, Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Electrical, and Data Science/AI, the programme also welcomes students from Law, Commerce, Science, Management, Mass Communication, and Library Science, making it more inclusive and multidisciplinary.

Selected interns will be placed at NHAI field offices or headquarters in New Delhi, where they will work closely with experienced professionals. The programme offers a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 along with a certificate upon successful completion. Eligible applicants include full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised institutions, particularly those ranked under frameworks like NIRF.

Applications must be submitted through the official internship portal by April 15, 2026, with institutes responsible for verifying student details before final selection. Officials noted that only institute-approved applications will be considered, and final project allocation will depend on availability and student preferences. The initiative reflects a continued effort to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and prepare a skilled workforce for India’s growing infrastructure sector.
