IIT Madras Develops Integrated Road Safety Dashboard to Improve Road Safety across India

IIT Madras has developed an integrated Road Safety Dashboard to support better road safety governance in India. The platform brings data from multiple departments onto one system for better decision making. It has already been adopted by the Government of Odisha. The dashboard is expected to be replicated across other states and union territories.

Chennai - In a major step towards improving road safety in India, IIT Madras has developed an Integrated Road Safety Dashboard that uses Data and technology to strengthen governance and reduce road accidents. The digital platform is designed to help the government take timely and coordinated actions by analysing rsal-time data from the multiple departments.

Road safety in India involves many agencies such as transport, police, health and urban development departments. Due to the lack of an integrated system , efforts in the past were often frigmented. The new dashboard addresses this challenge by bringing all relevant data onto a single platform , enabling evidence-based decision making and better coordination.

The dashboard has already being successfully adopted by the Government of Odisha and was launched during road safety month 2026. It's a flexible and modular design allows states to customize workflows , indicators and reports while following a common national framework.

IIT Madras, Director Prof. V. Kamakoti said the dashboard promotes coordinated data-driven road safety efforts. Developed by RBG labs within NICS support, it helps officials track accidents, plan interventions and enabled citizens to report hazards for safer roads.
